Combating Water Scarcity in Agriculture
Water conservation is a top priority for agricultural sustainability, particularly in semi-arid regions of Gujarat like Kadi, Mehsana, and Saurashtra. Farmers increasingly deploy rainwater harvesting ponds to store water during the monsoons and irrigate crops throughout the dry seasons.
However, standard excavated earth ponds suffer from massive water loss due to soil seepage. The most effective solution is sealing the pond using a premium HDPE Pond Liner.
Why HDPE is the Superior Pond Lining Material
Pond liners are exposed to continuous water pressure, soil chemicals, and harsh ultraviolet light. High-density polyethylene offers specific advantages:

Installation Steps for a Long-Lasting Pond Liner
- Excavation and Soil Clearing: Dig the pond with sloped walls (roughly 3:1 ratio). Remove all sharp stones, roots, and debris that could puncture the liner.
- Underlayment layer: Spread a layer of sand or geotextile fabric to act as a cushion between the dirt and the liner.
- Liner Laying and Anchoring: Roll out the HDPE sheet, avoiding pulling it too tight to allow for temperature contraction. Secure the outer edges in an anchor trench dug around the pond perimeter, backfilling it with heavy soil or rocks.
Using a minimum of 250 GSM UV-stabilized sheet ensures the liner remains leak-proof for over a decade.
